SWEDISH HOLISTIC MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1HR 15 MINUTES £82.50
1HR 30 MINUTES £95
2 HOURS £130

Swedish massage  is the most widely known of treatments known in the West. It's the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports massage, deep tissue etc and is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology,  as opposed to energy work on "meridians" or zen lines which are used in Asian massage systems.

The treatment is carried out while you are lying on a treatment bed, surrounded by soothing, relaxing music.  During this treatment, I use grape-seed oil or a beautiful scented balm to lubricate the skin before I warm up the muscle tissue, and use various techniques to release tension and gradually break up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, stress relief and muscle relief among other health benefits.

This treatment allows me to work on your legs, back, arms, chest, (abdomen and feet are optional).

HOT  STONE MASSAGE

CRYOTHERAPY (COLD STONE) MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 30 MINUTES £95
2 HOURS £130

Hot and cold stone massage offers massage techniques which go back many thousands of years. Native tribes of Hawaii and Tibet, American Indians and Chinese practitioners have used this therapy to help cure problems and ease tension in the mind while dealing with the body, making it a whole holisitic body treatment.

The heat of the stones penetrates the skin and muscle fibres deeper than using massage alone, helping you to relax and de-stress in double quick time! The thermal conduction of the stones brings about local and systematic changes to the body, influencing the energy centres, balancing both body and mind.

This treatment is carried out on the full body and face while you lie on my massage treatment table, listening to soothing music.  Oil or massage balm is used to enhance your experience. Hot Stones is definitely my most popular treatments!!!

CRYOTHERAPY (Cold Stone Massage) is a fantastic alternative to Ice bathing.  All the great benefits minus the outside elements!

WARM BAMBOO MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 30 MINS £95
2 HOURS £130

During this treatment, hollow bamboo canes are warmed and used as a massage tool over your body.

The bamboo cane replaces my hands, and it is used to give a deep, firm massage. The cane is rolled over the muscle with the same strokes I would use with my hands. The muscle is then kneaded, which assists in the release of tension and easing of knots. Massage practitioners often use the whole arm from elbow to wrist, and the use of the bamboo cane replaces this technique.

This technique works in a very similar way to hot stone massage. Hands are used to work over the muscles and the cane is used to focus on knots. As the cane is used instead of the hand, various techniques and modalities can incorporate the use of bamboo canes. Most Eastern-oriented practitioners believe that the bamboo canes, as can the hand on its own, clear blockages to stimulate the flow of chi or energy.

Typically the degree of pressure alternates between firm and soft, depending on the physical and mental issues being addressed in the session. All parts of the body are affected in some manner with the bamboo. This is a bespoke treatment which will be tailored to your needs and is carried out while you lie on my massage table listening to relaxing music. Oil or massage balm is used during this treatment.

LYMPHATIC MASSAGE (including Pre and Post Surgery Op)

60 MINUTES £70
ADD ON TO MASSAGE AVAILABLE

***A COST EFFECTIVE PACKAGE OF A COURSE OF 10 TREATMENTS IS AVAILABLE***

I'm very proud to be referred to as "THE person to go to for Lymphatic"!

This treatment is far more pleasant than it sounds! Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) helps to rid the body of toxins and excess lymph by stimulating the body's lymphatic system using specific massage techniques. The lymphatic system is a vital part of our immune system. Part of its function is to drain, transport, filter and remove broken down foreign substances and waste from our tissue.

This gentle, rhythmical, precise, massage-like technique gently moves lymph towards the lymph nodes, where the body can dispose of the waste more easily. The technique is also effective in releasing blockages of lymph flow, which can cause oedema (swelling of the tissues).

What are the benefits?
MLD is both preventative and remedial and can enhance your well being.

Furthermore, MLD is deeply relaxing, promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, sprains and lessens pain.
Can improve many chronic conditions: sinusitus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, acne and other skin conditions.
May strengthen the immune system as part of “detox” treatment.
Relieves fluid congestion: swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes and swollen legs due to pregnancy.
Is an effective component of the treatment and control of lymphoedema (which may occur after cancer treatment)
Promotes healing of wounds and burns and improves the appearance of old scars.
Minimises or reduces stretch marks.
Other benefits of the treatment are said to include clearer skin and boosted vitality.

This therapy would be carried out with you lying on my massage bed, ideally wearing shorts and vest top. Soothing and relaxing music will be played throughout the treatment.

 DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 15 MINUTES £82.50
1 HR 30 MINUTES £95

Unlike “classic” massage therapy which is generally used for relaxation, this technique focuses on treating specific problems areas.  The most prevalent issues these days are back and shoulder pain.  This technique helps with muscular pain, tenderness and lack of flexibility such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation.

I use firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

How Does It Work?

While some of the strokes may feel the same as those used in Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage isn't the same as having a regular massage with deep pressure. It's used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.

At the beginning of the massage, lighter pressure is generally applied to warm up and prep the muscles. Specific techniques are then applied. Conditions that may be helped by this treatment include:

Chronic pain
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g, sports injury, whiplash)
Repetitive Strain Injury (e.g, carpal tunnel syndrome)
Postural problems
Osteoarthritis pain
Fibromyalgia
Muscle tension or spasm

This is a bespoke treatment which will be tailored to your needs and is carried out while you lie on my massage table.  Oil or massage balm is used during this treatment.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE (ABDOMINAL AND FULL BODY)

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 15 MINUTES £82.50
1 HR 30 MINUTES £95
2 HOURS £130

Pregnancy Massage can help to alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy. During this amazing time of physical and emotional change, massage can be of enormous benefit to both the mother and baby.

Within my pregnancy massage treatment, I will be working in particular on the abdomen as well as the rest of the body - arms/hands, legs/feet, whole back/shoulder, face and scalp. The massage helps to prepare the body for the changes that occur during this special time and will help to promote a healthy, happy pregnancy, as well as labour and recovery period.

Studies show that women who receive regular massages have fewer complications during their pregnancy and labour and that their babies are more settled and content, suffering fewer baby ailments. Although pregnancy is a wonderful time, many changes take place in the mother's body as the baby develops. This can put strain and pressure on the joints, ligaments and organs causing some pain and discomfort which massage can help alleviate.

In addition, research also shows that the baby can greatly benefit from massage as endorphins (feel good chemicals) are released by the mother during massage that are passed onto the baby.

Amongst many benefits, massage during pregnancy has been found to help alleviate :

Muscle tension
Muscle spasm & cramping
Sciatic pain
Swelling
Oedema
Back, neck and shoulder discomfort caused by hormonal and postural changes.

It can also help improve quality of sleep, reduce headaches, relieve heartburn, balance mood-swings and help depression.

1 HR 30 MINUTES £95
2 HOURS £130

CORPORATE WORK UNDERTAKEN
PRICES ON APPLICATION

On-Site or Seated Acupressure Massage is a health maintenance massage designed to improve circulation and facilitate the flow of energy throughout the body using a highly structured form of massage, resulting in maximum benefit in the shortest amount of time.

Seated acupressure is based on a traditional form of Japanese massage called ANMA. It was first introduced to Japan approximately 1500 years ago from China. ANMA is Japanese literally for “press and rub” – hence “massage”.

You would sink forward and relax into the specifically designed treatment chair and your knees, chest and arms are fully supported by comfortable pads. I would then use my hands and elbows to work on over 100 specific stress release pressure points on the scalp, neck, shoulders, glutes, back, arms and hands throughout the sequence.

This treatment is done while you are seated on a specially massage chair.  You will be fully clothed and no oils or creams are used.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 15 MINUTES £82.50
1 HR 30 MINUTES £95
1 HR 45 MINUTES £107.50
2 HOURS £130

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a type of soft tissue massage incorporating stretching and the elongating of the connective tissues such as fascia. It is a powerful method of releasing tension from problem areas such as the neck, the diaphragm, lower back and pelvis. Myofascial Release is a safe, effective, hands-on technique, involving gentle sustained pressure and stretching into the myofascial connective tissue. This helps to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Myofascial release begins with a gentle massage which is designed to warm and loosen muscles. This helps me identify areas of tension which require further attention, and I return to those areas to stretch and work the fascia. Sometimes myofascial release can be quite intense, especially in the case of muscles which are holding a great deal of tension and stress.

A Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils or creams. It works on the principle that many people hold stress in their muscles causing them to seize, tighten or lock. Injuries or scarring will exacerbate this. The purpose of myofascial release is to access these areas of blockage and tension and release them, by freeing up the muscle and allowing it to move more easily. During MFR treatment, the client can be worked on in various positions, or the massage therapist may only stretch a muscle in a small way, using a few fingers to get deep into the muscle and pull it into a beneficial stretch. Working with the breath in combination with the stretches should maximise the effectiveness of MFR.

Regular myofascial release can improve posture, counter-act muscle soreness and increase flexibility and help with a variety of conditions some of which are listed below:

Arthritis
Back Pain
Fibromyalgia
Migraines
Neck Pain
Neurological Dysfunction
Pelvic Pain
Physical Stress
Postural Irregularities
Psychological Stress
Scars
Sciatica
Scoliosis
Sports Injuries
Whiplash
ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1 HR 15 MINS £82.50
1 HR 30 MINS £95

It was very important to me that I gain my diploma in Oncology Massage, as massage is a therapy which should be inclusive, available to everyone.

A massage will NOT spread cancer. This is a myth and is completely untrue. Cancer is spread through genes mutating, and NOT the mechanical movement of massage.

However, it is very important that if a client is living with cancer, and wishes a massage, that the massage is given by a QUALIFIED ONCOLOGY MASSAGE SPECIALIST. The reason for this is that the massage has to be adapted and tailored to suit the client and the Massage Therapist has to be fully aware of how to do this.

Anyone who has ever received cancer treatment, from those in active treatment to those in recovery or survivorship, as well as those at the end of life, are best served by a massage therapist such as I, who has received training in Oncology Massage.

Essential aspects of an Oncology Massage Therapist's skill set are an informed understanding of the disease itself and the many ways it can affect the human body; the side effects of cancer treatments, such as medications, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation; and the ability to modify massage techniques in order to adapt for these side effects, as well as for the disease.

As always, a full consultation will be carried out prior to the therapy.

Benefits:

Reduces pain, headaches, nausea, anxiety and depression and fatigue.
Aids sleep, mental clarity, range of movement, health of scar tissue and quality of life.

CUPPING THERAPY FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT

60 MINUTES £70
ADD ON TO MASSAGE AVAILABLE

The Functional Integrated Cupping Therapy (FICT) to give it it's full fancy name (!) is based on the ancient history and application of old Chinese medicine.

In this treatment, I place special cups on your skin  to create suction. They then pull blood to a region to stimulate healing.

Cupping is effective at stretching tight fascia and muscles.  It also helps the tissue develop new blood flow and causes anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body.

Cupping may alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase range of motion in joints all of which can assist the healing process.

By creating negative pressure above the surface of the tissues, we allow the surface tissue to be lifted upwards which changes the pressure on underlying tissues, such as nerves, capillaries and fascia.

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Science part over!!!

Cupping is also used to relieve:

Pains
Stiff muscles
Anxiety
Fatigue
Migraines
Rheumatism
Inflammation

Also used to help blood flow, for relaxation and well-being, and in assisting a  deep-tissue massage.

A firm favourite with clients and highly recommended.

TUI NA MASSAGE

60 MINUTES £70
1HR 15 MINUTES £82.50
1 HR 30 MINUTES £95

Tui Na is one of the Chinese healing arts of deep massage and manipulation for well being and can be used in conjunction with Cupping Therapy. Tui na is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese taoist principles in an effort to bring the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into balance. Tui means “to push” and Na means "to lift”.

The movements stimulate Chi and blood supply to assist in the body’s own healing processes. The massage is usually practised over clothes (but can also be performed on the skin with or without oil). You, the client, can be lying down on the massage bed, or seated, whichever you prefer.

There are many movements that I will use including: pushing, brushing, kneading, rolling, pressing, shaking, rubbing and lifting. These movements are specifically used to attempt to open the body’s defensive chi and get the energy moving in the meridians and muscles. I can/will also use a range of motion and traction with the stimulation of acupressure points.

These techniques are claimed to aid in the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions.

What conditions is this massage used for?

Muscle pain
Arthritis
Sciatica
Insomnia
Constipation
Headaches
Muscle spasm
Poor circulation
Frozen shoulder
Back pain
Stress

EAR CANDLING

30 MINUTES £40

Ear Candling (also knows as Thermo Auricular Therapy) is an ancient, natural therapy handed down by many generations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles for cleansing, purifying and healing at a spiritual level. Shaman healers also used them, as depicted on ancient wall murals.

The treatment involves you lying on your side on my massage bed. You will be supported by a head pillow and covered with a warm blanket.

The candles (which are made of woven cotton or linen with essential oils) will be held safely and securely in your ear and then lit. This generates a gentle heat. The herbs and wax are vapourised and drawn down inside the hollows of the candle producing a “chimney effect”. This creates a vibration of herbal vapour which produces a massaging effect on the eardrum and ossicle bones. Impurities are then drawn to the surface of the candle.

Each candle takes around 10 minutes to burn. A relaxing facial massage will be carried out to enhance the treatment.

Can help conditions such as:

Sinus congestion

Compacted earwax

Earache

Glue Ear

Tinnitus

Swollen glands

Congestion

Headaches

Rhinitis

Ear Candling
